Creating, Using, and Managing Labels
Labels help you group and organize URLs within a project. Use them to manage your workflow, identify URLs by campaign, or tag them by status, making your work easier to find and manage. This guide covers how to create, apply, and manage your labels.
Creating Labels
There are two ways to create labels: in advance from the Labels menu, or on-the-fly when building a URL.
Method 1: Create Labels in Advance
This is the best way to set up a consistent system of labels for your project.
- From your project dashboard, go to Tools > Labels.
- Click the Create a new Label button.
- Fill in the label details:
- Name: (Required) Give the label a short, descriptive name (e.g., Q4-Launch, Draft).
- Description: (Optional) Add a note about when to use this label.
- Color: (Optional) Choose a color for easy visual identification.
- Click Save.
The label is now available to be used on any URL in the project.
Method 2: Create Labels On-the-Fly
You can also create a label directly within the URL builder.
- In the Labels field of the URL builder, type the name of your new label.
- Press Enter.
- The new label is created and immediately applied to the URL you are building. Once you save the URL, this label will be available for future use across the project.
Applying Labels to URLs
Once labels are created, you can apply them to any URL.
- When creating or editing a URL, find the Labels field.
- Click inside the field to see a dropdown list of existing labels.
- Select the label(s) you wish to apply. You can add multiple labels to a single URL.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
Managing Existing Labels
You can edit or delete any label from the main label management screen. Go to Tools > Labels. This will display a list of all labels created in the project.
Editing a Label
- Find the label you wish to change and click the Edit (pencil) icon.
- Update the Name, Description, or Color as needed.
- Click Save. The changes will be reflected on all URLs that use this label.
Deleting a Label
- Find the label you wish to remove and click the Delete (trash) icon.
- A confirmation prompt will appear. Confirm the deletion.
Warning: Deleting a label is permanent and cannot be undone. The label will be removed from every URL it was previously attached to.
Best Practices for Using Labels
- Create a Color System: Use colors to represent status or type. For example: Blue for Draft, Yellow for Needs Review, and Green for Approved.
- Use Labels for Workflow: Manage the status of your URLs with labels like Draft, For Review, and Live. This helps your team see the status of each link at a glance.
- Group by Initiative: Use a consistent label for all URLs related to a specific marketing campaign (e.g., Summer Sale) to easily filter and find them later.
