Enforcing Lowercase for Campaign Parameters

Inconsistent capitalization can fragment your analytics data. Because most tracking platforms (like Google Analytics) are case-sensitive, they treat "Email" and "email" as two completely different traffic sources.

This guide allows you to enable a global setting that automatically converts all campaign parameters to lowercase. This safeguards your data, ensuring that regardless of how a team member types an input (e.g., "FaceBook" vs. "facebook"), the final URL remains uniform.

How to Enable Lowercase Enforcement?

Follow these steps to activate automated lowercase formatting for your project:

  1. Open your project.
  2. Click on Settings in the main navigation menu.
  3. Select the General tab to view your project configuration.

  1. Scroll down to the checkbox labeled Force all campaigns parameters to lowercase.
  2. Click the checkbox to enable the feature.
  3. Click the Save button to apply the new policy.

Your project will now automatically correct capitalization errors for all future links. Accidental capitalization will no longer split your tracking reports, ensuring your analytics remain consolidated and accurate.

Best Practices and Important Notes

To ensure this setting works effectively for your team, keep the following in mind:

  • Enable Early: It is best to enable this setting before you start a major campaign. This prevents having split data (half mixed-case, half lowercase) in your reporting tools.
  • New Links Only: Like other project settings, this rule applies only to newly generated links. It will not retroactively update links you have already created or distributed.
  • Data Aggregation: By forcing lowercase, you ensure that metrics for sources like LinkedIn, LinkEdin, and linkedin are aggregated into a single row in your analytics reports, giving you a cleaner view of performance.
